On June 17, 2025, the SCORE project concluded with its final event, entitled “Innovative solutions for climate change adaptation in coastal areas: when green and digital tools meet Living Labs.”*
This event offered an important opportunity to review and celebrate the results of four years of joint efforts, bringing together project partners, coastal city Living Labs, and external stakeholders.
This four-year, EU-funded initiative addressed some of the most pressing challenges of our time—extreme weather events, coastal erosion, and sea level rise—through a co-creation approach in 10 coastal city Living Labs across Europe. By combining ecosystem-based approaches (EBAs) with advanced digital technologies, SCORE helped define an integrated framework for coastal zone management, in line with the Paris Agreement. A key outcome of the project is the development of a GIS-based early warning platform and digital twin to support the implementation of EBAs, unlock new business opportunities, and improve the financial sustainability of coastal cities threatened by climate change. MBI played a key role, contributing significantly to the system’s architecture and design.
