On 17 June 2025, the SCORE project concluded with its final event, titled “Innovative Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in Coastal Areas: When Green and Digital Tools Meet Living Labs”*.
This event offered a valuable moment to look back on and celebrate the the results of four years of joint efforts, bringing together project partners, Coastal City Living Labs, and external stakeholders.
This four-year, EU-funded initiative tackled some of the most pressing challenges of our time — extreme weather, coastal erosion, and sea-level rise — through a co-creation approach across 10 coastal city living labs in Europe. By combining Ecosystem-Based Approaches (EBA) with advanced digital technologies, SCORE has helped shape an integrated coastal zone management framework aligned with the Paris Agreement.
A key achievement of the project is the development of a GIS-Based Early Warning and Digital Twin Platform to support the deployment of EBAs, unlock new business opportunities, and enhance the financial sustainability of climate-threatened coastal cities. MBI played a key role, contributing significantly to the system’s architecture and design.
We’re proud to have been part of this important step toward a safer, more resilient future for Europe’s coastal communities
* The event has been presented as part of the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference, ECCA 2025, in Rimini, Italy, a dynamic space for unveiling innovations, exchanging knowledge, and forging partnerships that advance a climate-resilient world.
