SafeTRIP

Satellite Applications For Emergency handlingTraffic alerts, Road safety and Incident Prevention

immagine safetrip

The SafeTRIP project’s general objective is to improve the use of road transport infrastructures and to optimize the alert chain (information / prevention / intervention) in case of incidents, by offering an integrated system, from data collection to service provision. In this way, SafeTRIP directly contributes to the achievement of the EC objectives regarding road transport safety enhancement, road mortality reduction and environment protection.

SafeTRIP intends to provide an integrated system platform that will allow any third party company to develop applications for the road market. During the SafeTRIP project, customer-oriented applications dedicated to car drivers and passengers, bus/coach drivers and passengers, and road operators will be tested on field on French and Spanish motorways and on the Paris-Brussels-Amsterdam corridor.

MBI's role

In the SafeTRIP project, MBI is responsible for the design and development of the turnkey platform enabling existing 2G/3G/4G mobile and terrestrial networks to interoperate with the new S-band satellite communication infrastructure. This service enabling platform will allow users in any mobile vehicle to communicate and access the services by means of a car gateway, named Greenbox, always connected with the service operation centers.
